Our classes cover some of the most important and interesting historical periods at home and abroad, including Scotland’s ‘Highland Problem’ in the 16th century, Slavery in World History and Cold War Europe, 1945-1991.Education is essential if you wish to study initial teacher education courses. We offer you the chance to develop knowledge of the education systems of Scotland and beyond, looking at issues including policy, social justice, equity and inclusion.

- the effects of World War I on Scottish society and why Ireland broke away from the United Kingdom
- the growth of the Labour Party and the rise of socialism will be traced
- the effects of the Great Depression of the 1930s on British society
- the reasons why the British government formulated a policy of appeasement, to show how foreign policy and domestic policy were inextricably linked
- the impact of World War II on British society
Entry Requirement
- For entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes we'd look for 70-75% in all subjects taken at level XII and the same at level X. Marks should be particularly strong in the proposed area of study.
- IB: Advanced entry to Year 2 of some programmes may be available.
- A Levels: Advanced entry to Year 2 of some programmes may be available.
