The MLitt in Scottish Historical Studies is a taught postgraduate programme run by the School of History.

Compulsory modules
- Directed Reading in Scottish History: designed to encourage the development of skills of historical analysis through concentrated study of a topic chosen by the student.
- Debates and Conflicts in Scotland’s History (1 and 2): gives students a thorough grounding in the history of historical writing in Scotland.

- International Baccalaureate (IB): 36 (HL 6,5,5) to 38 (HL 6,6,6 plus SL 6,6,6). From 2021, programmes requiring A-levels Mathematics will accept either Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation at higher level.
