Learning Outcomes
 

• demonstrate in-depth, extended, specialist knowledge of equipment and techniques relevant to a broad range of advanced practice in diagnostic Radiography
• demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of underpinning scientific, technical and professional principles/concepts informed by knowledge at the forefront of advanced practice in diagnostic Radiography
• critically appraise the need for diagnostic Radiography and image-guided investigations and procedures by synthesising clinical and other relevant information to inform decision making
• apply in-depth specialist scientific, technical and professional knowledge, sophisticated psycho-motor skills and critical judgement and decision making behaviours related to the acquisition, interpretation and reporting of diagnostic Radiography examinations to standards that meet national and local quality criteria;
• critically appraise and respond to each individual’s physical and psycho-social needs whilst undertaking diagnostic Radiography and image-guided investigations to standards that meet service and user / carer expectations
• critically evaluate diagnostic imaging examinations for technical and diagnostic Radiography quality
• take a proactive role in the development of diagnostic Radiography imaging practice and critically reflect on professional and social learning relationships within multidisciplinary clinical teams
• critically evaluate current issues and research related to diagnostic Radiography practice and its role in the diagnosis and management of disease
• demonstrate a specialist in-depth understanding of techniques applicable to enquiry based scholarship within the context of diagnostic Radiography.

Students must have:
 

• Normally a BSc (Hons.) in Diagnostic Radiography (at least 2:1)
• Have secured a suitable clinical placement (where appropriate) and:
• Employment with, or secondment to, a diagnostic imaging department or with access to diagnostic imaging facilities, approved by the University of Leeds
• Identification of 2 suitable clinical mentors within this department
• Employer’s agreement to undertake the course and provide adequate time and facilities to meet the learning outcomes of the programme.
• Satisfactory references and attendance at an admissions event
• Advanced standing.
   

English language requirements

• IELTS 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.5 in any component.
• Due to competition for places we will give preference to applicants who exceed our minimum entry requirements.
