Stage 1

Fully realise the interplay between psychological theory, research, and application. Explore the historical development of the subject to its current theories and methods.

You take all compulsory modules and then choose two elective modules from across the University. The School of Psychology offers two elective modules: Introduction to Forensic Psychology and Business Psychology: An Introduction.

Compulsory modules currently include

• PSYC3000 - Introduction to Psychology Statistics & Practical (30 credits)

• PSYC3010 - Introduction to Biological and General Psychology (30 credits)

• PSYC3020 - Introduction to Social and Developmental Psychology (30 credits)

• PSYC3130 - Psychology Research Participation (Stage 1) (4 credits)

• PSYC3141 - The Psychology of Successful Learning (6 credits)

Stage 2

Train further in the methodological skills appropriate to psychological investigation. Plus, focus in on genetics and physiology, individual differences, developmental change, attitudes, conflict and relationships.

You take all compulsory modules in Psychology. These modules, together with the final-year project, are required for professional recognition by the British Psychological Society.

• PSYC5280 - Child Development (15 credits)

• PSYC5880 - Psychology Research Participation (Stage 2) (4 credits)

• PSYC6391 - Brain and Cognition (30 credits)

• PSYC6392 - Personality and Social Psychology (30 credits)

• PSYC6410 - Mental Health: Diagnosis, Interventions and Treatments (15 credits)

Stage 3

Apply the tools and skills that will help you make an impact through our extensive range of research-led modules and your independent research project.

You take all compulsory modules and then choose four from a list of optional modules, allowing you to follow specialist interests and benefit from staff research expertise.

Compulsory modules currently include

• PSYC6330 - Applying Psychology (15 credits)

  The University welcomes applications from Access to Higher Education Diploma candidates for consideration. A typical offer may require you to obtain a proportion of Level 3 credits in relevant subjects at merit grade or above.

  32 points overall or 16 points at HL with Mathematics 4 at HL or SL

   

•  International Foundation Programme

  Pass all components of the University of Kent International Foundation Programme with a 65% overall average (plus 50% in LZ013 Maths and Statistics if you do not hold GCSE Maths at 4/C or equivalent).

   

•  T level

  The University will consider applicants holding T level qualifications in subjects closely aligned to the course.
