Program Overview

This joint honours combination allows you to study two complementary European languages in global cultural contexts.

Beyond Italy, Spain and other parts of Mediterranean Europe, the programme is your gateway to the history and literatures of Latin America and the Caribbean.

No previous knowledge of Italian or Spanish is needed. Through intensive language study, including a year abroad, you will have the opportunity to acquire advanced spoken and written skills in both languages.

You will learn how to discern different varieties and registers of Spanish, and can opt to broaden your linguistic portfolio with Portuguese or Catalan.

In addition to your language classes, you will be immersed in an extraordinary range of literature, film, art and theatre from around the world, explored in a historical context.

Entry Requirement
CBSE All India Senior School Certificate Examination (SSC), CISCE Indian School Certificate (ISC) Standard XII: overall 80% with three subjects at 75%.
Award of Certificate with five subjects at Class XII, with an overall average of 80% or above and minimum 80% in all required subjects (or 85% where we require a grade A at SQA Higher). Grade XII CBSE Applied Mathematics is not accepted to meet a Mathematics subject requirement.

Advanced entry direct into Year 2 of many of our Science and Engineering degree programmes is possible for applicants who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in the Higher Secondary School Certificate, but only where awarded by CBSE or CISCE. Advanced entry is offered into Year 2 to students from India with the relevant Indian boards. For advanced entry applicants must achieve the award of Certificate with minimum of five subjects at Class XII, with an overall average of 85% or above and minimum 85% in all required subjects as stated in our prospectus.
