Program Overview

This exciting new programme is intended to foster a new breed of designer for the 21st century. As the world undergoes massive, accelerated change, communities, cultures and societies are confronted by a variety of complex circumstances and systems, including disruptive technologies, ageing populations, economic instability, conflict and displacement, and environmental degradation.

Course Content
This programme engages you in structured teaching through a series of design labs, which provide thematic focus to open project briefs, encouraging independent interpretation in the design studio.

Design labs
These labs have several aims for developing your design based skillset:
- to develop the innovative use of analytical design research methods
- to encourage application of contemporary methods of production and prototyping to discover new insights
- to facilitate cutting-edge forms of communication, presentation and dissemination of your work.
- The design labs are complemented by options from subjects across the wider College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.
Entry Requirement
CBSE All India Senior School Certificate Examination (SSC), CISCE Indian School Certificate (ISC) Standard XII: overall 80% with three subjects at 75%.
Award of Certificate with five subjects at Class XII, with an overall average of 80% or above and minimum 80% in all required subjects (or 85% where we require a grade A at SQA Higher). Grade XII CBSE Applied Mathematics is not accepted to meet a Mathematics subject requirement.

Advanced entry direct into Year 2 of many of our Science and Engineering degree programmes is possible for applicants who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in the Higher Secondary School Certificate, but only where awarded by CBSE or CISCE. Advanced entry is offered into Year 2 to students from India with the relevant Indian boards. For advanced entry applicants must achieve the award of Certificate with minimum of five subjects at Class XII, with an overall average of 85% or above and minimum 85% in all required subjects as stated in our prospectus.
