CORE MODULES
International Fashion Business & Management
The module aims to develop student skills in analysing and articulating individual creative practise competencies, in order to satisfy identified opportunities to realise their value. The module will focus on building relevant applied 'business' skills in market research, project management, funding applications, budgeting, risk assessment and dissemination. Students will engage with current theories and practises of entrepreneurship, mentoring, networking and collaborative working.
Trends Forecasting and Fashion Buying
The module will provide opportunities for students to study trends forecasting and use the outcomes to predict and develop buying strategies. Students will analyse international supply chains in the fashion sector and build knowledge of relevant business models through research and case studies.
Fashion Consultancy Project/Internship
This module will provide an opportunity for the students to:
- Plan, prepare and undertake a master-level work placement (minimum 10-week maximum 12-week) in industry that is pertinent to their career objectives.
- Research, identify and pursue appropriate realistic placement / employment
- opportunities.
- Enhance professional practice through experiential understanding and development of employability and practical skills.
- Recognise and report on their understanding of various roles within a professional team.
- Give opportunity for networking environments that may lead to a mentorship/sponsorship.
- Record and reflect upon experiences whilst on placement in order to enhance their ability to contextualise the working environment.
Fashion Marketing and Public Relations
The overall aims of the module are:
- To enable students to acquire expertise in developing cross-cultural fashion marketing & PR strategies to extend their range of marketing communications understanding both to deal with global marketing situations in non-domestic markets and the impact of global competitors on the domestic market;
- To promote an understanding of the strategic factors determining the extent to which standardisation in strategy and implementation is appropriate for success in international markets;
- To enable students to develop a sophisticated understanding of the formulation and implementation of integrated global marketing and PR plans and associated activities.
Luxury Brand Management
The overall aims of the module are:
- To understand the key concepts and principles of luxury brand management
- To understand the relevant environmental factors impacting the luxury market, current trends and new marketing approaches.
- To understand contemporary issues in terms of luxury management and marketing
Fashion Business Research Report
This module aims to:
- Enable students to identify a research topic in the context of International Fashion Management
- Explore the literature relevant to the research
- Develop a research methodology to test their proposal using appropriate data collection methods
- Examine research findings and analyse, synthesise and critically appraise.
- Enable students to work with high personal effectiveness to submit an academic dissertation
- Enable students to reflect on their own development and career aspirations using the reflective journal as a tool.
Professional Life: Advanced Fashion Portfolio (Mental Wealth) FT7020
The aim of this module is to enable the student to experience professional engagement in a context relevant to their individual practice or chosen career path within the subject area. Professional engagement can take place within a wide variety of contexts. For example, the student may choose to design and manage a live project, submit for a competition, design and run a workshop or digital campaign.
