Program Overview

This Postgraduate Diploma route will enable graduates from any subject to build on their experience in a care role and becoming a Registered Adult Nurse with a postgraduate qualification. This is an accelerated course, which means that you will achieve your goals in two years. This will enhance your opportunities for employment in areas of your choice, especially when combined with the high-level attributes that you will acquire as a University of Chichester graduate.

You’ll study 50% of your time at the university and 50% of your time in clinical placement learning or simulation-based learning in developing your theory and practice. You’ll begin your course with a transitional module to prepare you to become a graduate professional nurse. As a postgraduate student at the University of Chichester you’ll develop an elevated level of compassionate leadership and enhance your already established digital literacy skills and resilience.

Throughout the course you’ll work closely with others in gaining the necessary experience, competencies and skills needed to become a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You’ll be supported by nursing practitioners and healthcare leaders in a safe and controlled setting within the University and clinical setting. On completion you’ll have access to a varied and fulfilling career with opportunities to work in practice, education, research, and leadership.

Once you have completed your Postgraduate Diploma you’ll have the option to return to your studies within a few years and complete your dissertation through topping up to a MSc in Nursing.

You will be taught by nurse academics who are all registered and experienced nurses, in addition to other allied health professionals, a range of nurse specialists, public health experts, researchers, academics and leaders in the field.  Your teaching will occur in a purpose-built nursing facility which is modern and spacious with excellent connectivity.
