Program Overview

This programme offers a firm foundation in biomedical research, enhancing your understanding and critical awareness of the scientific method and practical experience in an area related to your interests. Taught units provide training in research methodology, experimental design, statistical analyses and data interpretation. Skills training in verbal and written communication is also emphasised.

The core of the programme is an eight-month research project, conducted within one of the University's internationally recognised research groups. Opportunities will be available in laboratory or clinical-based investigations. If you have a specific research area you wish to pursue, please discuss with the Programme Directors at the time of application.

The programme is suitable for medical, dental and veterinary students interested in pursuing a research-intensive intercalation option after three years of study. It is also suitable for graduates in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and bioscience subjects who wish to develop their research skills.

Course Content
Year 1

The programme team will offer alternative desk-based research projects if access to laboratories is restricted due to the public health situation.

This degree is also offered to students (usually from Medicine, Dentistry, or Veterinary Science) as an intercalating award, normally taken after 3 years of study.

The 1-year full time degree gives students the option of undertaking a 100cp research project unit and a 20cp hacking for NHS unit as co-requisites, instead of a 120cp research project unit.

Entry Requirement
Applicants who hold a bachelor's degree from an accepted Indian university with a minimum of GPA of 6/10 or 60% will be considered for admission to a master's degree (the requirement will depend on your undergraduate university and the programme you have applied for).
Applicants to our Law programmes can be considered with minimum grades of 55-60% from an accepted Indian university.
Applicants who hold a first class master's degree from a prestigious university will be considered for admission to PhD study.
