This section describes which Units you will take in which year of study. It indicates which units are mandatory and where you will be able to choose. Year 1 

This programme can be taken over one, two or three years.
 

Full-time programme structure: (120cps of taught units and 60cps dissertation - totalling 180 credits)
 

• Students will take MODLM2015 “Theories of Translation” in their first term (TB-1).
• Students will also take “Translation Practice and Analysis I” and “Translation Practice and Analysis II” in one language.
• Optional units may be selected from List D or, where not already taken, from Lists B and C.
• Students will submit a dissertation in September following their year of study.
• Graduation will take place the following February.

• MA Translation

Upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant language (French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish), or any other subject, provided the language(s) qualifications of study are equivalent to a minimum score of C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Non-traditional qualifications/routes may also be considered. Applicants without the necessary academic linguistic background may be asked to complete a translation test.

UK: full-time (MA) £9,600

Overseas: full-time (MA) £21,000

Students who complete the MA in Translation commonly go into careers as freelance or in-house translators, editors or project managers. Some students who complete the programme continue to doctoral study.
