Your application, especially your personal statement, should demonstrate your enthusiasm for studying mathematics, statistics and data science more generally. This might include relevant reading, voluntary or work experience, topics or applications of mathematics that particularly interest you or other relevant extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
 

Strong performance in Mathematics is essential, both in your entry qualifications and any previous study. Unlike our other Mathematics degrees, we do not require or consider performance in any additional mathematics tests for this course (such as STEP, MAT or TMUA).
 

Higher Secondary School Certificate (12th Standard)
 

• An average of 85% across four subjects with 85% in Mathematics and Physics.

• Do not accept Physical Education as one of these four subjects.

• These requirements are for the CBSE and CISCE boards.

• A levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma
   

English language requirements

You will normally need one of the following:
 

• IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in all components

• IELTS Indicator: 6.5 with 6.0 in each component

• TOEFL IBT: 90 overall with a minimum 21 in all 4 components

• TOEFL IBT and IBT Special Home Edition: 90 overall with 21 in each component

With a mix of technical and problem solving skills, mathematicians are highly sought after in a wide variety of roles. For example, you could go on to work in the finance sector as an accountant, actuary or analyst, as a statistician in government or into teaching roles. You could also go on to work as a data scientist or software developer in commerce or the technology sector. Many of graduates also choose to go on to postgraduate study in preparation for academic or industry-based research careers.
