Facilities

UOG amenities include three campus libraries with devoted academic services and librarians, as well as top-notch sophisticated laboratories for their scientific and engineering students. For a memorable student experience, the recently refurbished Dreadnought Building at the university offers academic, instructional, and computing areas in addition to a gym and performance venue. Take a look at some of the University of Greenwich facilities -

Libraries & Computing:

There are a lot more resources available at the university libraries than just books. With computers, printers, and scanners spread throughout, they make excellent spaces for quiet work or collaboration. The university’s librarians, academic skills tutors, and other members of the library staff can help and offer advice on a variety of topics, including working with numbers, referencing, exam preparation, and making the most of the journals, books, databases, and resources available in the library. The library offers a unique resource for students called ‘LibGuides’, which specializes in information on anything from copyright policies to counselling on employment and even filmmaking in libraries. Each library offers photocopying services and self-service equipment so that patrons can process their own loans and avoid lines. For checking email, kiosk-style terminals are accessible.

Computer labs (conveniently located in the same building as the libraries) have networked PCs, printers, and scanners available. Each campus also has additional resources in other buildings. Email, Internet access, and a large selection of both general and specialized software are available. Workspaces (with and without PCs) are available in their computer facilities, and these spaces give users access to both conventional printed materials and electronic journals, ebooks, and databases through the university portal. The majority of these electronic resources are accessible from home, and LibrarySearch, the online library database, provides access to the entire collection of all the libraries.

Student Centres:

The Student Center provides a variety of services, including completing the student registration process, approving applications for 18+ Oyster cards, and providing student letters. The university's student union is called Greenwich Students' Union (GSU). The GSU Student Assembly voted in October 2019 to request that the university declare a climate emergency and that students be included in the creation of the union and university sustainability initiatives. This call to action aims to expedite the university's carbon neutralization efforts.

Sport:

Dome Gym - Every student’s workout demands are met in the university’s fully air-conditioned gym. It features a comprehensive selection of cardio-vascular and resistance equipment, as well as a selection of dumbbells and personal trainers.

Sports Hall - The Avery Hill Campus' sports hall was specifically constructed to provide the best options for indoor sports to students. The room is designated for a variety of sports and has a vinyl floor made specifically for them:

  • 4 badminton courts, with competition standard posts
  • Five-a-side football
  • Futsal
  • Basketball – 1 full-sized court or 4 cross courts
  • Netball
  • 4 full-length cricket nets
  • Volleyball
  • Korfball

Outdoor Sports Facilities - Two new all-weather sports fields were created due to a £1.7 million investment in sport at the UOG's Avery Hill Campus, allowing for on-campus competition for the majority of student-athletes. The lacrosse teams and recreational football teams use the same sand-dressed hockey surface that is used by the men's, women's, and mixed hockey teams. For use with American football, rugby, and many other sports, a 3G rubber crumb field is available.

  2. Postgraduate Programmes:

    • While specific deadlines for postgraduate courses are not explicitly mentioned, applicants should apply as early as possible, especially for competitive programmes, to ensure they have enough time for visa processing and other preparations.
    • After submitting your application, you can track the status using the university's application tracker. Decisions are typically communicated via email, and the timeline for decisions may vary depending on the course and the volume of applications received. For undergraduate applications submitted through UCAS, decisions may be available after the UCAS deadline, while direct applications to the university may have varying timelines.

It is recommended that international students apply as early as feasible, as competitive courses may close early once they reach capacity. Specific country dates for offers, Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), and registration will be confirmed closer to the September intake.
