MSc Advanced Aeronautical Engineering and Space Systems

On this MSc course, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation in aerodynamics. We’ll build on your existing expertise by giving you advanced skills in computational modelling, numerical techniques and an in-depth understanding of engineering approaches to current aerospace problems. 

You can then choose to specialise in one of several highly-sophisticated fields, such as spacecraft design, flight control and simulation, aeroelasticity, computational fluid dynamics, advanced aerodynamics and robotics.

You’ll gain the skills necessary to work in the aerospace engineering industry, whether as a researcher or as an engineer for a major aerospace company. You will also collaborate with researchers working on alternative fuel sources, future-proofing your career by keeping you at the forefront of innovation in this sector.

You’ll be integrated into one of our research teams and work on an aerospace engineering-related project, supervised by one of our research staff. You’ll have access to our excellent facilities, enabling you to conduct cutting edge research that can lead to publication at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.

Our Advanced Aeronautical Engineering and Space Systems MSc has been accredited by IMechE and RAS, on behalf of the Engineering Council and a suffix "EngC Pathway" will be added to the degree title when a student satisfies the accreditation requirements.

Progression and award requirements for an accredited MSc are stricter than these requirements for a standard QMUL degree. If a student does not satisfy the accreditation requirements, but does satisfy the requirements for a standard QMUL degree, the "EngC Pathway" suffix will not be added.

A good 2:2 or above at undergraduate level in Engineering or a related discipline.

Student Visa Regulations

If you will require a Student visa to study in the UK, you must meet the minimum English Language requirements to meet the UKVI regulations.  The minimum IELTS requirement is 5.5 in all four skills (Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening).  However, many of our courses require higher grades.

Pre-sessional English Language Courses

If you fall slightly below our standard English language requirements, you may consider one of our Pre-sessional English courses.  Please note that you will require a UK government approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) for entry to our Thirteen week pre-sessional courses.  Currently, only IELTS for UKVI, PTE Academic (UKVI), LanguageCert International ESOL SELT and Trinity College London, Integrated Skills in English (ISE) are accepted.
