MSc Philosophy of Science

You take either Philosophy of Science or Evidence and Policy plus an extra elective course. You will also choose courses from a range of philosophy options. In addition, you will take part in the non-assessed dissertation seminar, which will prepare you to complete your dissertation of 10,000 words.

Dissertation Seminar
A non-assessed course which prepares you to write your dissertation. 

Dissertation
An independent research project on an approved topic of your choice, of 10,000 words.

Courses to the value of two units from a range of options. 

Either

Philosophy of Science
Provides an overview of the major traditions and theories of the philosophy of science, including some metaphysical questions, as well as methodological questions about how science works

Or

Evidence and Policy*
Advocates that good policy decisions – concerning climate, conservation, international development, poverty, education, medicine, health etc – require a rationally based view of whether the proposed policy will (or is likely to) bring about the intended outcome

And
Courses to the value of one half unit from a range of options. 

Minimum entry requirements for MSc Organisational and Social Psychology
 

Upper second class honours (2:1) degree or equivalent, with a considered interest in the area covered by the MSc.

Competition for places at the School is high. This means that even if you meet the minimum entry requirement, this does not guarantee you an offer of admission.

Every graduate student is charged a fee for their programme.

The fee covers registration and examination fees payable to the School, lectures, classes and individual supervision, lectures given at other colleges under intercollegiate arrangements and, under current arrangements, membership of the Students' Union. It does not cover living costs or travel or fieldwork.
