MSc Gender (Sexuality)

This is the most flexible degree the Institute offers. You will take two compulsory courses and options to the value of one and a half units and a dissertation. In addition to the compulsory courses, you are able to choose options that will enable you to develop your own gender studies pathway or to focus on key research areas (for example, sexuality, culture, globalisation, development, postcoloniality or gendered politics).

Transnational Sexual Politics 
Takes a case-study approach to questions of sexuality, gender and culture (in the first term) and to sexuality in the contexts of globalisation (in the second).

Gender Theories: An Interdisciplinary Approach*
Enables you to become familiar with the fullest range of gender theories, with particular attention to the intersections of gender, sexuality and race.

Dissertation - Independent Research Project
An independent research project of up to 10,000 words on an approved topic of your choice.

Minimum entry requirements for MSc Gender (Sexuality)

Upper second class honours degree (2:1) or equivalent in social science or humanities.

Competition for places at the School is high. This means that even if you meet the minimum entry requirement, this does not guarantee you an offer of admission.

Every graduate student is charged a fee for their programme.

The fee covers registration and examination fees payable to the School, lectures, classes and individual supervision, lectures given at other colleges under intercollegiate arrangements and, under current arrangements, membership of the Students' Union. It does not cover living costs or travel or fieldwork.
