Liverpool John Moores University, also known as LJMU, is an open research university. Its origins can be traced back to 1823 when the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts was established. Later, the school was renamed Liverpool Polytechnic. Since then, they have come a long way, and it was granted university status in 1992. Notable affiliations include the Northern Consortium, University Alliance, and the European University Association.
The university, which is located in Liverpool, England, provides academic facilities through its three campuses: City Campus, I M Marsh Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus. Some of the major buildings and departments are located on the city campus. The Faculty of Law and Business is located on the Mount Pleasant Campus. The Community, Education, and Leisure faculty are housed at the I M Marsh Campus in Aigburth. Modern facilities are available on all three campuses.

LJMU university has three libraries, one on each of its campuses. The library collections contain over 68,500 physical resources, with over 1,600 workspaces available for students all day. It also contains over 16,000 electronic books and 5,000 electronic journals. The Liverpool Students' Union, represents the student body. Students can also participate in a variety of sports. Sports teams at the university include badminton, volleyball, cycling, cricket, football, tennis, rugby league, hockey, basketball, netball, swimming, rugby union, and American football.
