Program Overview

Our Philosophy BA will help you to develop different perspectives on problems around you. King's offers an extremely wide range of Philosophy modules for you to choose from, with no gaps in coverage from pre-Socrates to the present day. You'll also have the chance to study Indian Philosophy or Medieval Philosophy, an opportunity only available at a handful of UK universities. Located in the heart of London, our Department has particular strengths in the philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, political philosophy and ancient philosophy.

Students will have the option to transfer to the four-year Philosophy with a Year Abroad BA course. Students on the Philosophy with a Year Abroad BA will spend their third year studying abroad before returning to complete a final year with King’s.

Course Content
Courses are divided into modules. Each year you will normally take modules totalling 120 credits.

Year 1

You are required to take the following modules, each worth 15 credits:

- Elementary Logic (15 credits)
- Metaphysics I (15 credits)
- Modern Philosophy 1 (15 credits)
- Political Philosophy I (15 credits)
- Epistemology I (15 credits)
- Methodology (15 credits)

There are no required modules for this course in your third year.

Students who transfer to the four-year Philosophy with a Year Abroad BA course will spend their third year studying abroad at a partner institution. Their final, fourth year will follow the year 3 pattern below
Entry Requirement
Must be registered on as a student at your home university for the duration of your time at King's (i.e you cannot be on a leave of absence from your degree) and your university is transferring at least some of the credits earned at King's towards your degree.
Undergraduate students must be registered on a BA/BSc/LLB or equivalent undergraduate degree.
Undertaken a minimum of 1 year of university level study.
