Program Overview

The one-year Neuroscience Intercalated BSc combines lectures, seminars and a strong focus on research projects to provide you with a wide-ranging, accelerated exploration of the major topics in the rapidly evolving field of neuroscience.

Course Content
Courses are divided into modules. You will normally take modules totalling 120 credits. This is a one-year course.

Year 1

Required modules

There are three possible pathways. These are listed as option A, B and C below.

Option A: Developmental Neuroscience/Systems Neuroscience/ Neurodegeneration – with the emphasis on laboratory-based research.

You are required to take:
- Laboratory-based Research Project in Neuroscience (45 credits)
- Principles of Neurobiological Research (15 credits)
You are also required to take one of the following two modules:
- Developmental Neurobiology (30 credits)
- Perspectives on Pain & Nervous System Disorders (30 credits)
You are also required to take one of the following three options:
- Cellular & Systems Neuroscience (30 credits)
- Mechanisms of Development (30 credits)
- Memory Mechanisms in Health & Disease (15 credits) and Imaging the Brain, Reading the Mind (15 credits)
Entry Requirement
Must be registered on as a student at your home university for the duration of your time at King's (i.e you cannot be on a leave of absence from your degree) and your university is transferring at least some of the credits earned at King's towards your degree.
Undergraduate students must be registered on a BA/BSc/LLB or equivalent undergraduate degree.
Undertaken a minimum of 1 year of university level study.
