Courses are divided into modules. You will normally take modules totalling 480 credits.

Year 1

Required modules

You are required to do the following modules

• Linear Algebra & Geometry I (15 credits)
• Sequences & Series (15 credits)
• Introduction to Algebra (15 credits)
• Calculus II (15 credits)
• Linear Algebra & Geometry II (15 credits)

• Probability & Statistics I (15 credits)

Year 2

Required modules

You are required to do the following modules

• Real Analysis (15 credits)
• Classical Dynamics (15 credits)
• Groups & Symmetries (15 credits)
• Applied Differential Equations (15 credits)
• Complex Analysis (15 credits)

Year 3

Required modules

You are required to take at least four modules from a range of modules, which may typically include:

• Geometric Topology
• Special Relativity & Electromagnetism (15 credits)
• Rings & Modules (15 credits)
• Mathematical Finance I: Discrete Time (15 credits)
• Fourier Analysis (15 credits)
• Galois Theory (15 credits)
• Mathematical Finance II: Continuous Time (15 credits)
• Mathematical Aspects of Statistical Mechanics (15 credits)
• Fundamentals of Probability Theory
• Advanced Quantum Mechanics (15 credits)
• Theory of Complex Networks (15 credits)

Year 4

Required modules

You are required to do the following modules

• MSci project (30 credits)

Subject requirements

Required subjects:
A-level (or equivalent) grade A*A in Mathematics and Further Mathematics (in any order).

Preferred subjects:
None

You will also need:

International qualifications where Further Mathematics is not able to be studied within the curriculum

If you are studying an international qualification which does not offer a Further Mathematics subject as part of the curriculum, then we would not expect you to have met this requirement. However, you will be required to obtain the equivalent of A-level grade A in Mathematics. 

Tuition Fees

Full time tuition fees UK:
The UK tuition fee for the academic year is currently £9,250 per year. This is based on the UK Government’s cap.

Full time tuition fees International:
The International tuition fee for the academic year is £21,840 per year.

Please note that the International tuition fee is subject to annual increases in subsequent years of study, in line with King’s terms and conditions.

All International applicants to Undergraduate programmes are required to pay a deposit of £2,000 against their first year’s tuition fee. This deposit is payable when you firmly accept an unconditional offer to study with us, and will be offset against your tuition fees when you join King’s.

If you choose the study abroad option with one of King’s partner universities, you will not be charged tuition fees by the host university (although some partners do charge a small administration fee for applying). King’s will continue to invoice for a proportion of King's tuition fees.

You should also budget to pay for the associated subsistence costs, such as travel, visas, accommodation and food as well as any vaccination/immunisations required by the country to which you are travelling.  

A degree in mathematics is one of the most flexible qualifications you can obtain, and as a result our graduates are among the best paid. Many mathematics graduates become statisticians, actuaries, scientists, accountants, and so on. More and more often they are also going into careers in life sciences or the City. There is also considerable demand for graduates of mathematics in the teaching profession.
