Structure
Courses are divided into modules. Each year you will normally take modules totalling 120 credits.

Year 1

Required modules
You are required to take the following modules:

• International Relations Theory (30 credits)
• History of the International System (30 credits)
• Introduction to International Economics (30 credits)
• Conflict and Diplomacy (15 credits)
• Contemporary Security Issues (15 credits)

Year 2

Required modules

You are required to take the following modules:

• Global Politics (15 credits)
• Research Methods in War Studies and International Relations (15 credits)

Year 3

Required modules

• If you are studying the three year BA, you will take the final year modules in your third year.
• If you choose a year abroad, you will spend your third year studying abroad to earn the equivalent of 120 credits before returning to complete a final year with King’s. This will depend on reaching a certain grade average and being accepted by a partner university. 

This list is subject to change and development.

You are required to take the following module:

• Dissertation (30 Credits)

You are also required to choose one 30 credit regional specialism module, which will provide an opportunity to study one area of the world in some depth. You will be expected to draw on the subject matter of your chosen regional specialism when writing your dissertation.

These modules are designed to take advantage of the current research expertise of academic staff in the department and within King’s College London to bring you to the frontiers of scholarship.
Typical modules may include:

• Conflict and Security in the Middle East and North Africa (30 credits)
• Russia in the 21st Century: Foreign Policy, Identity and Security (30 credits)
• International Relations of South Asia (30 credits)
• War and International Politics in Africa (30 credits)
• Contemporary Strategy in East Asia (30 credits)
• The European Union in the International System (30 credits)
• Security and International Relations in Latin America: from Independence to the Present Day (30 credits)

Standard requirements

• The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total.
• Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits overall: 39 credits must be from units awarded at Distinction, with 6 at Merit.
• The Access to Higher Education Diploma should be in a relevant subject - Humanities, or similar - to be considered.

Contextual requirements

• The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total.
• Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits overall: 33 credits must be from units awarded at Distinction, with 12 at Merit.
• The Access to Higher Education Diploma should be in a relevant subject - Humanities, or similar - to be considered.

Full time tuition fees UK:
The UK tuition fee for the academic year is currently £9,250 per year. This is based on the UK Government’s cap.

Full time tuition fees International:
The International tuition fee for the academic year is £22,500 per year.

Please note that the International tuition fee is subject to annual increases in subsequent years of study, in line with King’s terms and conditions.

All International applicants to Undergraduate programmes are required to pay a deposit of £2,000 against their first year’s tuition fee. This deposit is payable when you firmly accept an unconditional offer to study with us, and will be offset against your tuition fees when you join King’s.

If you choose the study abroad option with one of King’s partner universities, you will not be charged tuition fees by the host university (although some partners do charge a small administration fee for applying). King’s will continue to invoice for a proportion of King's tuition fees.

You should also budget to pay for the associated subsistence costs, such as travel, visas, accommodation and food as well as any vaccination/immunisations required by the country to which you are travelling.  

Our graduates go on to work in a range of fields including government (most commonly in Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs in the UK and abroad), academia, journalism, banking (often in emerging markets or risk analysis), research and policy think-tanks, humanitarian organisations and international organisations.
