Structure

Courses are divided into modules. This is a one-year course. You will take modules totaling 120 credits.

In Semester 1, all students will choose taught modules totalling 60 credits. In Semester 2, students will choose either a 45-credit laboratory project module (‘Bench’ Stream) or a 15-credit library project module (‘Bedside’ Stream).

Year 1

Required modules

• Viruses and Diseases (Bench Stream) (15 credits)
• Analysis of scientific papers in infectious diseases and immunobiology (Bench Stream) (15 credits)
• Immunology of Human Disease (Bench Stream) (15 credits)
• Viruses and Diseases (Bedside Stream) (15 credits)
• Analysis of scientific papers in infectious diseases and immunobiology (Bedside Stream) (15 credits)
• Library Project (Bedside Stream) (15 credits)

Entry requirements for MBBS students

• King’s students must have passed Stage 1 and Stage 2.
• External students must have first time passes for years 1 and 2 and all SSCs.

Entry requirements for Dental students

• BDS students are required to pass year 2 at the first attempt and year 3 or 4 if applicable.

Entry requirements for Veterinary students

• Veterinary students are required to pass year 2 at the first attempt and year 3 if applicable.

Tuition Fees

Full time tuition fees UK:
The UK tuition fee for the academic year is currently £9,250 per year. This is based on the UK Government’s cap.

Full time tuition fees International:
The International tuition fee for the academic year is £29,460 per year.

Please note that the International tuition fee is subject to annual increases in subsequent years of study, in line with King’s terms and conditions.

All International applicants to Undergraduate programmes are required to pay a deposit of £2,000 against their first year’s tuition fee. This deposit is payable when you firmly accept an unconditional offer to study with us, and will be offset against your tuition fees when you join King’s.

This intercalated BSc programme will prepare medical students to understand how a variety of infectious and autoimmune diseases as well as cancer can be treated or prevented using antimicrobial drugs, vaccines and immunotherapies. Knowledge of infection and the immune response to it is required for many medical specialties and this programme will prepare students for career paths specialising in infection (infectious diseases, medical microbiology, medical virology, tropical medicine), allergy, immunology, sexual health and general practice.
