Year 1
Required modules
You are required to take the following modules:
• The Making of Modern Europe (30 credits)
• Revolution & Reaction in Modern France: an introduction to modern French History (15 credits) [Department of French]
You are also required to take one of the following language modules based on your language ability:
• Core Language (First Year) (30 credits) [Department of French]
• Introductory French (30 credits) [Modern Language Centre]
• Intermediate French (30 credits) [Modern Language Centre]

Year 2
Required modules
You are required to take the following modules:
• The Modern French State (15 credits)
• The Integration of the European Union (30 credits)
You are required to take 15-30 credits of language modules, based on your language ability:
• Core Language (Second Year) (15 credits) [Department of French] or
• Intermediate French (30 credits) (for ab initio introductory level from Year 1) or
• French Stage 5 (15 credits) + 5AALLCUL Language, Culture and Society (15 credits) [Modern Language Centre] (for ab initio intermediate level from Year 1)

Year 3
Required modules
You will spend your third year of study in France at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) where you are required to take 60 credits of modules from the International Programme:
• Exchange Placement Abroad module (60 credits)
Once you have returned to King’s College London following your study abroad year, you will be required to take 30 credits of Aural & Oral Exams.
• Year Abroad Practical Language module (30 credits)

Year 4
Required modules
You are required to take one 15 credit module:
• Core Language (Final Year)(15 credits) [Department of French]
or
• The Stylistics of Translation (depending on the level of French) (15 credits) [Department of French]
