Program Overview

On our Ancient History BA degree you can explore a huge range of diverse periods, countries and cultures. Join our Classics Department, ranked 1st in the UK for research excellence (REF 2021), and study topics to suit your interests - from earliest Greece to Rome and beyond, and right up to the influence of Classics on modern history and current affairs. Our course also covers a vast geographical area, from Roman Britain to the Black Sea, Persia, Egypt and North Africa. While you will focus on the historical modules, you will also have the opportunity to learn Latin and/ or Greek and explore study areas in literature, art and philosophy.

Course Content
Structure

Courses are divided into modules. Each year you will normally take modules totalling 120 credits.

This is a three-year degree course in which you will take a combination of required and optional modules to total 360 credits.

Required modules

You are required to take the following modules:
- Introduction to Ancient History (c 1200 BC– AD 600) (30 credits)
Entry Requirement
Must be registered on as a student at your home university for the duration of your time at King's (i.e you cannot be on a leave of absence from your degree) and your university is transferring at least some of the credits earned at King's towards your degree.
Undergraduate students must be registered on a BA/BSc/LLB or equivalent undergraduate degree.
Undertaken a minimum of 1 year of university level study.
