• Artistic Identity In Creative Music Production (30 Credits)                                                                                      

This module will provide you with clarity regarding your individual artistic intention within the field of music production, allowing you to evaluate current methodologies and establish a vision for future production practice. Seminars will see you analyse a range of both personal and external influences, and through discussion and self-directed research, you will develop your communication skills by articulating and comparing ideas, while identifying new areas of creative exploration.
 

• Industry Practices 1 • Applied Production Techniques (30 Credits)

Across this module you will develop an understanding of a range of music production techniques, while exploring a well-functioning consideration of creative intention and process. Through practical work, discussion and self-directed exercises, and by studying topics including creative production processes, idea generation and organisation, creative intention, drafting and development, you will examine and critique your own creative work, identifying areas to cultivate and explore.
 

• Innovations In Music Production (30 Credits)

Undertaking this module will equip you with innovative production skills for use across a range of circumstances. You will explore the role of innovation in studio production, especially in the context of your own work, and will study alternative production approaches across different styles and genres. Your confidence will improve as you expand your outlook, practical skill base and knowledge of innovative production techniques.
 

• Industry Practices 2 • The Art Of Mixing And Mastering (30 Credits)

This module will develop your production skills via advanced mixing and mastering workshops which focus on the use of equalisation, advanced dynamic processing, automation and time-based effects. The module explores mixing as a creative technical process by evaluating current methodologies, and you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of mastering within the delivery process to deliver the highest industry production standards.
 

• Creative Production Project (60 Credits)          

Your Major Production Project acts as a developmental ‘bridge’ into professional work contexts, supporting artistic independence and the creation of both generic and specific creative and entrepreneurial skills. As you progress your piece, you will be guided by an ICMP tutor considered to be a specialist in your chosen field. Projects typically take the form of an artist album or similar body of creative production work.

• Applicants will typically have achieved a 2i Honours degree or above or equivalent, usually in music or the arts, but also from other fields of study if music experience has been gained alongside this study and can be demonstrated at the interview. We welcome applicants from non-music-related academic backgrounds who are actively writing and involved in music, please read our additional guidance here.
• ICMP London school of music also welcomes applications from established practitioners who are keen to undertake study at the postgraduate level but may not possess the required qualifications. These students may be given credit for their prior study or experience.
• International: English language requirement – minimum level B2 of the CEFR 
• When completing the full application form for the Masters in Creative Music Production course, please be aware that you will be required to submit a personal statement.
• Additionally, you’ll be asked to complete an audition/interview. Further documentation or evidence in support of your application may be required in certain cases.
