Hartpury University is a specialist higher education and further education institution located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. The university is known for its focus on animal, land-based, and sports studies, offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in these areas. The college was founded in the late 1940s as an agricultural college with 50 students during the post-World War II era. Up until 1990, when a significant expansion programme began with the offering of a wider range of further education courses, the college remained mostly unchanged. Hartpury has had affiliations with West Of England University since then.

 

  • Each year the institution admits more than 4000 students at its campus. The Hartpury University courses offered to these students have a strong reputation, they are, animal health, biology, welfare and husbandry. They have a dedicated animal centre with over 70 species where students will work along with veterinary surgeries, rescue centres, kennels, catteries, equine yards, farms, canine enterprises and zoological collections. 

 

In the Agricultural courses students study in a 360-hectare estate and an on-site commercial farm. Moreover, students admitted here will be exposed to their data-driven farming and real business innovations which are a part of their Agri-tech Centre and Tech Box Park. Equine diplomas are full of expert lectures and plenty of opportunities to gain commercial experience. Eventing, showjumping, dressage, thoroughbred and stud work are a few areas covered in the curriculum. The university houses 230 houses including a livery for 150 horses. Moreover, they offer a special membership to Equestrian Club for recreational riding. 

 

To provide their students with a solid foundation in all facets of sports health, physical education, coaching, business, strength and conditioning, and professional development, they provide a diverse range of sports BTEC diplomas.
