About
Glasgow's roots can be traced back to 1845 when it was founded by the Pope's decree, the Papal Bull. It is the fourth oldest English-speaking university and a part of Scotland's Scottish Enlightenment alongside three other ancient universities, St. Andrews, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh during the 18th century. Bishop William Turnbull established the university on the orders of King James II, who expressed a desire to add another university to Scotland. Since the inception of the Glasgow School of Arts in 1845, as a creative hub promoting design for the manufacturing industries, the school's role has evolved and been redefined to reflect the needs of the communities, embracing fine art and architecture education in the late 1800s.

Facilities
Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, is where the GSA campus is located. There are numerous textile workshops, media studios, print workshops, design studios, and jewellery workshops on the Glasgow School of Art's Garnet Hill campus. The Stow building on the Glasgow campus houses fine art photography workshops, printmaking workshops, and fine art studios. There are 13 sports clubs on the GSA campus, including ones for roller skating, hockey, golf, boxing, football, yoga, badminton, and many others. The best collection of artwork, design, and architecture can be found in the Institute library. The school also hosts a variety of events, including conferences, exhibitions, lectures, and degree shows. Glasgow School of Arts facilities also include the following -
Student Services: Supporting Students with Disability provides particular assistance to students with disabilities (a physical or sensory impairment, medical condition or specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia). Student welfare provides assistance and advice with regard to housing, financial aid, childcare, and other day-to-day aspects of being a student. Housing Services: New undergraduate and graduate students at the school have the option to live in either of the two purpose-built residence halls, Blythswood House or Margaret Macdonald House. Both locations are in the heart of the city, close to services and transportation hubs, and five minutes walk from the main GSA Garnethill campus.
Library Services: The finest collections of art, design, and architecture can be found in the Glasgow School of Art Library. The goal is to give staff and students access to a wide range of ICT facilities as well as high-quality information, resources, and services.
