City, University of London

The university is now firmly established as a top 400 global university, and seven CUL subjects have also made it into the top 200 global subject rankings, with Communications and Media performing best. CUL has a strong musical reputation due to its affiliation with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Nursing and midwifery, social work and social policy have also performed well in the subject rankings.

 

In the 2021 REF, the university was ranked 39th out of 129 universities in the UK which was an improvement of 12 places since REF 2014. In REF 2021, the proportion of its research rated world-leading nearly doubled to 40%. In 2018 and 2019, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking) placed CUL among the top 1000 universities. Times Higher Education (THE) has raised the university’s ranking in its best university ranking from 401-500 in 2020 to 351-400 in 2021. Course Rankings

There are five faculties of study available at CUL for undergraduate and graduate degrees. Since 2016, CITY has been listed by Financial Times as one of the top 50 MBA schools worldwide. FT has positioned CITY among the top 50 programmes in its Master in Finance rating. Since 2018, QS (Top Universities) has positioned CITY among the top 100 MBA programmes globally in its global MBA rating. According to the Financial Times European Business School Ranking 2021, Bayes Business School is placed third in London, sixth in the UK, and 23rd in Europe. In the UK, Business Administration and Finance Research are placed third in Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022. 

 

Additionally, CITY was listed among the top 100 universities in the UK for a variety of engineering degrees by The Complete University Guide and The Guardian. In its assessment of civil engineering, The Guardian puts CITY at the 33rd spot for 2023. Additionally, CITY is ranked 37th in civil engineering for 2023 according to The Complete University Guide.
