Our MSc Artificial Intelligence with Cyber Security is designed to prepare you in the area of network, information and computer security, focusing on the strategic implementation of AI-enabled security methods.

Study with ARU in Cambridge and learn in a business-focused context that will allow you to assess new and existing cyber security threats and apply AI techniques to minimise them.

The security of business systems and data is vital. Most security vendors claim to do some kind of AI in their solutions, either to spot malicious behaviour patterns or to add support to overloaded security operation centres.

AI is clearly changing how security vendors approach threat detection, yet AI in security is still in its infancy.

This Masters in Artificial Intelligence with Cyber Security degree will give you skills and knowledge to stay ahead of the game as you learn to implement AI to monitor and protect against cyber attacks.

You’ll consider the legal, economic, societal and ethical issues that an AI-based cyber system might impact on and learn how to implement IT strategies to conform to the appropriate professional, regulatory and ethical guideline constraints.

As a postgraduate student at ARU you’ll also have the opportunity to engage with real-life business problems through our guest lectures. These will give you an understanding of business needs in this area and help prepare you for your future career.

This is one of three postgraduate degrees in AI and cyber security on offer at ARU. You can also choose to focus on data modelling and machine learning with our MSc Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, or learn to implement and test secure systems with MSc Cyber Security.

Course Content
TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT

Whole course
This Masters degree will introduce you to the tools and techniques of AI-enabled security methods.

Working in our specialist labs, you’ll use industry standard tools in penetration testing to critically analyse and evaluate the security risk levels of web applications and recommend appropriate mitigation controls.

In the taught modules, you’ll consider how machine learning is being applied to modern cyber security and threat detection. The Web Application Security and Computer Security modules will strengthen your knowledge in Cyber Security. You’ll also build the knowledge in machine learning, neural computing and deep learning algorithms and have hands-on application of these to different domains.

Your Major Project is an opportunity for you to undertake independent research into a topic of interest and develop a significant level of expertise.

Entry Requirement
Standard entry requirements

Main
A first degree, with honours, at a minimum final classification of Lower Second (2.2), or equivalent, in a Computing, Electronics, Mathematics or Statistics subject.

If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (Academic level- with no individual score being lower than 5.5) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Notes
In order for you to gain the full benefits from this advanced Masters course in AI, it is strongly recommended that you ensure that you have some basic programming knowledge of Python prior to the start of your course.

Alternatives
If you have an unrelated honours degree (2.2 or above) or a foundation degree in Computing, plus work experience at a suitable level, you may be considered on an individual basis. Applicants may be invited for interview to determine their suitability for the course.
