TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT

12 months full-time (September start)

Year 1

The wide range of modules offered on this Masters course in Applied Wildlife Conservation provide you with a fundamental understanding of conservation issues, as well as the flexibility to focus on areas of particular interest.

Core modules include an exploration of topical issues in wildlife conservation, biodiversity mapping, and animal behaviour. These cover both the ecological and socio-political dimensions of conservation problems and their solutions, and are considered from local to global scales. Teaching of these modules combines distance learning, research seminars, computer practicals, field trips, and discussion sessions.

Optional modules include a laboratory-based introduction to conservation genetics. This will enable you to study various DNA-based technologies now pivotal in assessing the conservation status of endangered species. You’ll be trained in how to conduct these techniques and analyse the data obtained.

Your Masters Research Project is your opportunity to explore in depth a topic of particular interest, in which you can develop a significant level of expertise under the supervision of experts in the field.

Your work will be assessed in a range of ways to reflect the scope and aims of our course. These include written assignments such as scientific reports and essays, field-work, case studies, group work and presentations.

Main
A first degree, with Honours, in a Science related subject and at a minimum final classification of upper second (2:1). Applicants with slightly lower qualifications may be considered if they have substantial work experience in conservation.

If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Tuition fees for international students (2022/23)
£15,000

International students starting 2022/23 (full-time, per year)

You can pay your tuition fees upfront, in full or in two instalments. We will also ask you for a deposit of £4,000 or a sponsorship letter. Details will be in your offer letter.
