TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT

1 year full-time (September start)
Year 1

Your studies on this MA Intercultural Communication will be conducted mainly, but not exclusively, within the framework of Europe.
For full-time students this includes the opportunity to study for a semester at one of a network of European universities. You’ll be taught in English by specialists from the contributing universities but will also have the opportunity to learn the local language.

You’ll have a genuine intercultural experience of education in a multinational group, and of a variety of European approaches to learning and teaching.

An alternative Cambridge-based module explores the development of relations, communication styles and values between individuals and groups of different cultural backgrounds. Practical case studies will include aspects of changing behaviour, discrimination and racism.

For your Major Project you’ll explore in depth a topic that reflects your particular area of interest.

Assessment

If you choose the Cambridge-only route, you will demonstrate your progress on the course through written coursework (eg a 6,000-word essay) and short presentations in some modules. You will also complete a 15,000-word dissertation.

If you choose the Eurocampus route, your method of assessment will change depending on the institution you attend.

Standard entry requirements

Main

A good First Degree, with Honours, in a related subject.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Our international students usually study the whole MA Intercultural Communication course in Cambridge, but if you want to take the Eurocampus route you’ll need to secure an appropriate visa. The application process for this will depend on the immigration offices of the European country that you will be studying in. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to secure a visa, but we advise you to start applying for a visa before you arrive at Anglia Ruskin or shortly after you register with us. International students starting 2022/23 (full-time, per year)
You can pay your tuition fees upfront, in full or in two instalments. We will also ask you for a deposit of £4,000 or a sponsorship letter. Details will be in your offer letter.

Careers

Our MA Intercultural Communication will prepare you for many different roles with international companies, local government and European institutions.

Past graduates now enjoy careers in intercultural training, such as for Communicaid, or work with non-governmental organisations such as UNESCO and UNICEF. They also work in intercultural mediation in educational or social contexts, language teaching, translation/interpretation services, international property sales and business, education or embassy administration.
