Our Legal Practice Course and LLM Advanced Legal Practice aim to prepare you for work-based learning and provide you with a foundation for practice.

The course features 11 core modules which offer a broad foundation for a career in law, which include Business Law and Practice, Property Law and Practice, Litigation and the areas of wills and administration of estates and taxation and the course skills of practical legal research, writing, drafting, interviewing and advising, and advocacy.

Our course also offers vocational modules that reflect the popular areas of law practised by many law firms, so you can tailor your LPC to suit your professional career needs.

Based at our Cambridge campus, you'll be taught via i-lectures and workshops, where you'll practise performing tasks that a trainee solicitor would experience in practice and complete a major research project with supervision.

Throughout the course, we’ll assess your progress through a combination of timed open book supervised assessments, oral practical and coursework-style. You’ll also undertake full-scale mock assessments in all areas, including all skills subjects. You’ll also undertake full-scale mock assessments in all areas, and a 15,000-word research project.

Entry Requirement
A recognised pre-Masters course.
3 year Bachelors or 4 year Bachelor Engineering or Technology, minimum division 2 (50% - 59%) in relevant subjects.
4 year Bachelor of Laws complying with above for entry to LLM.
Bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi or the University of Calcutta with 45%.

Our Advanced Legal Practice LLM includes the PG Dip Legal Practice Course followed by a research project.

Successful completion of the Legal Practice Course will prepare you for life as a practising solicitor in England or Wales. You’ll be ready to continue on to the two-year training contract that will fully qualify you for professional practice*.

You can choose to complete your two year qualifying work experience in up to four organisations that provide legal services. It can be paid or unpaid and could include time spent on a training contract, on placement during a law degree, working in a law clinic, at a voluntary or charitable organisation such as citizen advice or a law centre or working as a paralegal.

Whatever you decide, you can be sure of receiving specialised guidance for your career in law, through our links with practitioners. We’ll also keep you up to date on vacancies in the legal job market.

Graduation doesn’t have to be the end of your time with us. You could choose to continue your academic career with a Masters or research programme at ARU.
