TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT

Year 1

Over the course of a year you’ll explore the world of artificial intelligence and embedded computing, developing your understanding of their core principles and real-world uses.

We'll take an in-depth look at machine learning, and the ways in which computers can be taught to learn by example, as well as digital hardware systems. And we concentrate on data, looking at digital signal methods and tools to extract meaningful information from noisy data, or analyse and find patterns in signals.

We also look at cloud computing and the scope it gives us to offer anywhere, anytime access to configurable resources such as networks, apps and processors.

We round out the year with your Final Project, where you'll focus on an area that particularly interests you and complete a substantial piece of research and/or product development work. As well as showcasing your knowledge, it's the perfect opportunity to display qualities that employers look for, such as organisational skills and self-management.

We'll monitor your progress in a number of ways including assessments, coursework assignments and the Final Project. Our project and module case studies assess your ability to analyse situations, identify key issues, select, synthesise and apply techniques and skills from different modules, and evaluate the appropriateness of solutions when compared to industry practice.

Your dissertation artefact will be based on a real-world scenario related to, or part of, a piece of project work in a company or relevant to industry.

We don't accept AS level qualifications on their own for entry to our undergraduate degree courses. However for some degree courses a small number of tariff points from AS levels are accepted as long as they're combined with tariff points from A levels or other equivalent level 3 qualifications in other subjects.

You can pay your tuition fees upfront, in full or in two instalments. We will also ask you for a deposit of £4,000 or a sponsorship letter. Details will be in your offer letter.
