BSc (HONS) Business with Events Management

In the first year of your BSc (Hons) Business with Events Management degree, you’ll be provided with a strong foundation on which to build the knowledge you will acquire over the next few years. After this year, you’ll have a deeper understanding of what makes a business tick and the role played by event management and marketing.
 

You’ll gain insight into a broad range of areas that affect how businesses operate and build an appreciation of the ways in which the law impacts on both domestic and international business environments. You’ll take some time learning about the importance of financial analysis for a business and how finances are managed, too.
 

As part of your first year, you’ll also explore the principles and philosophies which underpin marketing with a strong focus on how traditional concepts are still relevant in an ever-changing digital world.

  Event managers need to be ready to organise anything from meetings to festivals so you’ll get the chance to work with local organisations to get a truly live experience of what event planning and management really looks and feels like. Whilst working on events, you’ll get the chance to develop your entrepreneurial prowess, learning how to identify and exploit opportunities for new products or marketing opportunities.
   

  Project management is a key skill for any business professional so we’ll focus on providing you with a sound basis for managing or working on projects. You’ll learn about the importance of risk management, costing and resource optimisation to understand how to improve on the success of future projects.
   

  During your second year, you’ll also have the opportunity to take part in a Ruskin Module, which gives you the opportunity to develop your intellectual flexibility, creativity and confidence.

  In the final year of your Business with Events Management degree, you’ll spend time considering how both events and business as a whole can be more ‘green’. You’ll also spend time developing an even more thorough understanding of strategic management and the importance of this discipline to help businesses achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.
   

  From parties to festivals and mega-events, you’ll look into how events can be managed sustainably and consider issues such as social responsibility, impact and legacy. You’ll also take a broader look at sustainability as a whole, developing your understanding of environmentally, socially and economically responsible business practice.
   

  As part of your final year, you’ll have the opportunity to bring together everything you have learned on live brief assessments where you’ll be part of an interdisciplinary team addressing a current issue in business. Acting as experts in your field, you’ll channel your specialities to identify issues, determine solutions and present your findings back.
