Standard entry requirements

Main

• 96 UCAS Tariff points from minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent), preferably to include Music, Music Technology or a related subject.
• 3 GCSEs at grade C, or grade 4, or above.
• If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.0 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
• You may also be accepted to this course with an IELTS 5.5 (Academic level- with no individual score being lower than 5.5) or equivalent English Language qualification as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University, but will then be required to undertake additional compulsory free English language modules in your first year.
   

Alternatives

• UCAS Tariff points acquired from BTEC Level 3 Diplomas in a related subject are accepted.
• UCAS Tariff points from Access to HE Diplomas are accepted.
• International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points is accepted, related subjects are preferred.
• UCAS Tariff points from Scottish Advanced Highers are accepted, related subjects are required.
• UCAS Tariff points from Scottish Highers are accepted, related subjects are required.
• Please note ABRSM (and equivalent) grade exams attract UCAS points which can be used in the overall calculation.
• UCAS Tariff points acquired from the International Baccalaureate Certificate are accepted, related subjects are required.

International students starting 2022/23 (full-time, per year)
You can pay your tuition fees upfront, in full or in two instalments. We will also ask you for a deposit of £4,000 or a sponsorship letter. Details will be in your offer letter.

Careers

Throughout our BA (Hons) Music Performance, you’ll not only develop the latest skills and knowledge for a career in music performance, but also get the support you need to grow into a confident and creative graduate with a willingness for lifelong learning, and the desire to seek continuing personal and professional development in all aspects of your career.

By the time you graduate, you’ll have built up a professional portfolio of your music performance projects, which will act as an enhanced CV for you to present to future employers and clients. This might consist of video showreels, commercial music releases, or other demonstrations of your technical expertise, as well as a fully-developed online profile.

You’ll also seek and complete a work placement in an area of your interest in year two, gaining experience of the industry as well as learning to self-evaluate and develop your employability skills.

We work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they need. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – and they offer hands-on, practical opportunities to learn through work-based projects, internships or placements.

Graduation doesn’t need to be the end of your time with us, of course. You might decide to stay at ARU and study for a Masters, such as our MA Music Therapy. Take advantage of our Alumni Scholarship and get 20% off your fees.
