About
Lund University is a prestigious institution known for its rich history. It was established when a Franciscan studium generale was first founded in Lund in 1666. This university is not only one of Sweden's prominent public research universities but also one of the oldest in northern Europe. Its inception came about following Sweden's acquisition of Scania from Denmark in the 1658 Treaty of Roskilde. This eventually led to the official establishment of Lund University at the site of the former studium generale, adjacent to Lund Cathedral.
The campus’ focal point is Lundagård Park, which is right next to the Lund Cathedral. Its various departments are located in different parts of the town but they are predominantly clustered northward from the park which links to the university hospital area and extends further to the northeastern outskirts of the town.
