Program Overview

You create the future with this one-year foundation animation course, the starting point if you want to become a 2D animator, venture into game art and development, or 3D animation production.

You'll explore the fundamentals of character animation, 3D modelling, VFX, pre-production and specialist software. It’s here that you learn the nuts and bolts of 2D animation methods like movement and dialogue, and build up your knowledge of animator software, workflow and industry practice.

Entry Requirement
We recognise that this year has been tough for students, especially if you’re moving on from High School. Because of this we are offering Discretionary Admission to students who have missed out on credits, so you don’t need to have University Entrance or NCEA Level 3 to be accepted into this programme. You will need to show you have your literacy and numeracy credits at Level 1, and at least your Level 2 NCEA certificate. A support letter from your school is also beneficial but not essential.
