Studio Practice 1

This course involves the learner in the management of their studio practice. Project work increases the learner’s awareness of professional practice and the contextual requirements of the art and design sector.

Creative Technologies 1

This course provides an introduction to using creative technologies in the context of producing art or design outcomes for project briefs. Learners explore a range of investigative tools, creative processes, ad technologies to develop responses to a brief in order to solve problems.

Printmaking 1

This course offers printmaking – screen-print, etching and woodcut; and digital - an exploration into illustration and design.

The Body 1

This course includes investigations of the human and other bodies. It partly involves a live model, enabling valuable skills in life drawing, as well a taking a multi-disciplinary approach.

Design 1

This course gives an introduction to 3D and New Media practice in the context of exploring contemporary approaches to creative projects.

Studio Practice 2

This course involves the learner in developing their art & design practice with a view to engaging skills in using related technologies. The learner has the option to manage their project ideas in consultation with the tutor or choose from selected project briefs.

Drawing 1

This course engages the learner in the exploration of drawing methods and ideas through projects that reflect the art and design context.

Painting 1

This course engages the learner in the exploration of painting projects designed to extend their knowledge and application of art and design contexts.

• New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 4); or 

• Equivalent knowledge, skills, work experience or study. 

INTERNATIONAL FEES

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge for entry-level positions in production and/or design roles within arts and design industries such as designers, technicians, machinists, or salespeople, gallery, retail, artist, artist assistant, gallery assistant, museum worker, cultural organisations.
