Programme structure

 

• The BNurs is a six semester programme, comprised of three parts (360 points).
• It is structured to include a foundation year (Part I), where students study biological, physical and social sciences alongside other health professional students (105 points).
• You are also required to complete one course (15 points) from the General Education Schedule.
• Year Two (Part II) has two core courses: Nursing Clients with a Pathophysiological Problem (60 points) and Nursing in Mental Health, Addictions and Disability (60 points).
• Year Three (Part III) has two core courses: Child and Family Health Nursing (60 points) and Professional Nursing Practice (60 points).
• Clinical learning experiences are central to the overall purpose of the BNurs, so students will be immersed in a variety of clinical settings through years two and three.
• Clinical settings include acute and chronic health care facilities, inpatient and outpatient clinics, and institutional and community health agencies, along with primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services.

You need to have one of the following:

 

• 12 years of schooling and an overall average of 75 percent in the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC), Indian School Certificate (ISC), Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal State Board Examinations with a minimum of 70 percent in English.
• 12 years of schooling and an overall average of 80 percent in all other Higher Secondary State Board Examinations with a minimum of 75 percent in English.

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.16 per point, estimated at $979.20 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.

Where could this programme take you?

After successful completion of the BNurs, graduates may apply for registration as a comprehensive nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Graduates of the BNurs will have an immediate advantage in the job market. Nursing offers a variety of different career settings, practice specialities and roles.
