This programme consist of 120 credits. The courses includes;

Technical Support Fundamentals

Deliver organisational technical support based on best practice in IT service management.

• ITIL, user needs analysis, user training, technical writing

Computer Fundamentals

Develop an understanding of fundamentals of computer hardware, operating systems, and troubleshooting techniques.

• Ubuntu (Linux), numbering systems, PC building and configuration

Network Fundamentals

Understand the fundamentals of computer networks as they currently exist in industry and to enable students to describe, test, and troubleshoot local area networks

• TCP/IP, networking protocols, network topologies, network devices, WireShark

Information Systems Fundamentals

Develop expertise on business information systems fundamentals and essential components of the ICT profession

• Cloud computing, collaboration technologies, business systems, IT history

Systems Analysis Fundamentals

Gain fundamental knowledge relating to the principles of systems analysis and systems requirement elicitation techniques

• Visual Paradigm, Requirements management, Use case modelling, Process modelling, Data modelling

Web Fundamentals

Develop foundational expertise on the fundamentals of web development and to enable the production of quality websites

• HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JavaScript Libraries and Frameworks (JQuery, BootStrap, Angular)

Programming Fundamentals

Gain fundamental programming knowledge and application of programming techniques to develop quality software

• Visual C#, .NET Framework, Visual Studio, Testing, Debugging, SDLC

Data Fundamentals

Build a broad operational knowledge of database design and administration

• Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Queries, data administration

Domestic Entry Requirements

If under 20 years of age at the commencement of the programme, NCEA Level 3

OR

Equivalent academic achievement, such as:

• New Zealand Certificate in IT Essentials
• New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology)

OR

English language proficiency

If English is not your first language, you must also demonstrate English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score
(academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible). UCOL is a TOEFL testing centre.

International Entry Requirements

In addition to the Domestic Entry Requirements, the following applies to international student applicants.

English language proficiency

International student applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible). UCOL is a TOEFL testing centre.

Under 20 years of age

In addition to this, international applicants under 20 years of age must have NCEA equivalency.
