New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 4) (Academic)

This programme consist 60 credits. The courses includes;

Reading Level 4 (15 Credits)

You will learn to read and understand extended or complex texts (fiction and non-fiction) with a large degree of independence on familiar topics.

Writing Level 4 (15 Credits)

You will learn to write coherent texts appropriate to audience and purpose with few linguistic errors for a variety of purposes on familiar topics.

Listening Level 4 (15 Credits)

You will learn to identify main ideas and some key supporting details expressed in extended speech in a range of familiar contexts.

Speaking Level 4 (15 Credits)

You will learn to speak with fluency and with some degree of elaboration in a range of familiar topics.

Domestic Entry Requirements

New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Applied) (Level 3)

OR,

equivalent skills and knowledge such as IELTS 5.5. IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible). UCOL is a TOEFL iBT testing centre.

A diagnostic test may be used to identify the Level at which domestic students for whom English is not their first language and international students already in New Zealand should begin studying.

Successful graduates of UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 4) (Academic) can progress to further study at undergraduate level at UCOL or further specialise in the English language with New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 5.
