MAN530 Principles of Management

This paper provides an introduction to the principles and processes of management and how they are applied to address current issues.
 

MAN535 Principles of Human Resource Management

An overview of human resource management specific to the New Zealand Environment, within a business context.
 

MKT571 Principles of Marketing

This paper provides a working knowledge of fundamental marketing concepts relevant to contemporary organisations.
 

MKT753 Digital Marketing

An introduction to existing and emerging technology in a range of marketing contexts and delivery platforms. Students will be able to evaluate and integrate various digital marketing methods into the overall marketing strategy of the organisation.
 

MKT574 Effective Sales Techniques

An overview of the personal selling process, including prospecting for customers, presenting, handling objections and closing the sale. Students will gain an extensive understanding of the buyer decision making process, develop negotiation skills, and enhance their ability to effectively communicate to potential and existing customers.
 

MKT575 Marketing issues and relationship management

An understanding of the implications of existing and emerging marketing and sales issues. The paper also develops the skills necessary for effective relationship management with a range of stakeholders.

Applicants should be a minimum of 18 years of age, have completed a minimum of 4 years secondary education, and have attained a minimum of 12 NCEA credits at Level 2 in each of four approved subjects.
 

Applicants under 20 years:
 

• 10 credits at NCEA Level 2 in both literacy and numeracy 
• Other desirable subjects include computing, communication and customer service skills
   

Applicants over 20 years:
 

• Applicants over the age of 20 years at time of enrolment will be considered where they can demonstrate the ability to succeed in a programme. Examples of demonstration of ability to succeed are the provision of evidence of successful completion of a programme of study at level 2 or above in a related discipline and/or employment in the related sector for one or more years.
• They may be admitted subject to programme regulations approved by the Head of Faculty in consultation with the Programme Manager as appropriate. Personal commitment and a belief in one’s own ability to succeed are important personal traits and will always be taken into consideration during the selection process.

Graduates of the New Zealand Diploma in Business L5 (Marketing and Sales strand) will have the skills and knowledge to be employed in a variety of business entities in marketing and sales entry-level roles such as:
 

• marketing assistant, 
• junior account manager, 
• sales representative, 
• merchandiser,
• digital marketing assistant.
