An overview of human resource management specific to the New Zealand Environment, within a business context.

This paper provides students with a working knowledge of fundamental marketing concepts relevant to contemporary organisations.
 

MAN536 Introduction to Health and Safety

An introduction to workplace health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, standards, and guidance documents and focuses students on the establishment and usage of these documents in the workplace.
 

MAN537 Workplace Relationships

An overview of strategic workplace relationships, including managing conflict situations and the potential impact of workplace relationships upon business operations.
 

MAN538 Change and HR strategies

This paper provides students with an understanding of the cultural and productivity impacts which change can have within an organisation and knowledge of how to effectively manage the change process. Included within the paper are the appropriate human resource strategies to identify, apply, and monitor change.

Applicants should be a minimum of 18 years of age, have completed a minimum of 4 years secondary education, and have attained a minimum of 12 NCEA credits at Level 2 in each of four approved subjects.
 

Applicants under 20 years:
 

• 10 credits at NCEA Level 2 in both literacy and numeracy 
• Other desirable subjects include computing and communication
   

Applicants over 20 years:
 

• Applicants over the age of 20 years at time of enrolment will be considered where they can demonstrate the ability to succeed in a programme. Examples of demonstration of ability to succeed are the provision of evidence of successful completion of a programme of study at level 2 or above in a related discipline and/or employment in the related sector for one or more years.
• They may be admitted subject to programme regulations approved by the Head of Faculty in consultation with the Programme Manager as appropriate. Personal commitment and a belief in one’s own ability to succeed are important personal traits and will always be taken into consideration during the selection process.

Graduates of the New Zealnd Diploma in Business (L5) Human Resource Management strand will have the skills and knowledge to be employed in a variety of business entities in entry-level Human Resource roles such as:

• HR administrator, 
• HR assistant, 
• HR coordinator. 
   

The skills and knowledge can also be applied to supervisory or first line management roles.
