MSc Management and Marketing

at University College Cork

Our MSc (Management & Marketing) programme is delivered over 12 months, in two parts, using a combination of:

• lectures and tutorials

• interactive workshops

• case-studies and class discussion

• industry presentations

• company visits

• guest speakers

• research seminars
   

Part I covers mid-September until the following March. During this time you will study a core selection of subjects in both management and marketing, and you can also choose from a range of elective subjects depending on which area you aim to specialise in.
 

To help prepare and enhance your prospects of employability, you will also take a Personal and Professional Development module. On completion of this module, you should be able to:
 

• Write a professional curriculum vitae.

• Deliver effective, informative, and persuasive presentations.

• Undertake interview preparation and career planning.

• Reflect on your own professional and personal development.
   

These modules are delivered by a combination of academic staff and industry practitioners in the field, and avail of the most up-to-date techniques, with a strong applied focus.
 

In Part II students complete the Applied Research Project module (30 credits). If students have successfully secured a placement, the Applied Research Project must be completed outside of their normal working hours.

Note: Where a student has taken and passed a module previously, the student will be required to take a substitute module as directed by the Programme Director.

The minimum requirement for applicants is a Second Class Honours Grade II in a primary honours degree (NFQ Level 8) without significant management or marketing component (as adjudicated by the Programme Director, but normally less than 30 ECTS credits).
 

Consideration under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be given to applicants who do not meet the above criteria but who have sufficient relevant professional experience, subject to approval by the School of Business.
 

As places are limited, all eligible candidates are not guaranteed a place on the programme. Participants will be selected on the basis of the information supplied in their application.
 

Minimum Requirements and Accepted English Language Tests & Examinations

The minimum English language entry requirements for admission onto a postgraduate programme at UCC are outlined below. These requirements are for postgraduate applicants whose first language is not English. If Gaeilge (Irish) is your first language these requirements do not apply to you.
 

There are a small number of programmes with a higher minimum English language entry requirement and we list these below under Programmes with a Higher Minimum English Language Requirement.
