Science underpins many of the major industrial sectors and employers in Ireland, from pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare to agri-food and the green economy. A recent review of employment opportunities in Ireland by Forfás found that science will be at the core of our future skills needs.
 

This general science course is ideal if you are not yet sure which science discipline you wish to pursue. It will give you a broad education in first year that will allow the maximum possible choice in future years.
 

You’ll gain an understanding of fundamental scientific and mathematical principles; develop basic theoretical and technical skills in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics; be able to analyse and interpret a range of physical, chemical and biological data; be able to begin applying the scientific technique in analysing and solving problems, and understand the role and responsibilities of a scientist in society.
