Program Overview

This one-year course provides you with a general access route to engineering courses if you haven’t decided yet which engineering discipline you’d like to study.
 

If you successfully complete the course, you’ll have laid down the mathematical and scientific foundation to enter the second year of any of seven Level 7 discipline-specific courses. In addition, in a limited number of cases, some students with proven ability may be permitted to progress to the first year of the Level 8 Engineering (General Entry) course TU805.
 

You’ll study maths, science, engineering design and drawing, and will be given a general introduction to the engineering profession.
 

After completing the first year, you can choose to enter Year 2 of one of the following Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) courses:

  • DT002 Engineering Systems Maintenance
  • TU701 Automation Engineering
  • TU704 Civil Engineering
  • TU703 Building Engineering
  • TU717 Mechanical Engineering
  • TU714 Electronic and Communications Engineering
  • TU705 Electrical and Control Engineering
  • TU706 Electrical Services Engineering
     

If you pass the first year with a high average mark and a high mark in mathematics, you may enter Year 1 of TU805 Engineering (General Entry) Level 8 and may then progress to Year 2 choosing one of the following disciplines; Electrical & Electronic/Computer & Communications Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Manufacturing & Design Engineering; Structural Engineering;Building Engineering, OR Civil Engineering.

  • HSC XII: CBSE, ICSE, Kolkata or Tamil Nadu boards with an overall average of 70% or above.
  • HSC XII: West Bengal board with an overall average of 58% or above.
  • HSC XII: Maharashtra or Gujarat boards with an overall average of 75% or above.
  • HSC XII: All other state boards with an overall average of 80%+ or above.
  • OR
  • Successful completion of Standard XI with 55% OR successful completion of Standard XII 50% plus successful completion of TU Dublin Foundation or another recognised pre-university foundation with relevant subjects and 60% - 65%.
  • OR
  • Successful completion of 1 year of a Indian degree with average of 55% with relevant subjects at a recognised third-level or higher education institution in addition to completion of senior high school. This assessment will be on a case-by-case basis.
