About

Canada’s southernmost university, the University of Windsor (commonly known as U of W or UWindsor) is a public research university located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The university traces its roots back to 1857 when it operated as the Roman Catholic Assumption College till 1956 and was called the Assumption University of Windsor from 1956 to 1963. After being incorporated by the provincial government in 1962, the institution came to be regarded by the University of Windsor on the 1st of July 1963. The college has seen steady growth over the years where it has expanded to include and affiliated with many institutions. 

 

The university strives for excellence in teaching, learning and research in several disciplines. Its primary endeavours in research are channelled in the areas of automotive, social justice, environmental and international trade research. Other areas of research specialisation over recent years include natural science, entrepreneurship and health research. UWindsor is divided into nine faculties and schools that provide over 120 undergraduate programmes and over 55 postgraduate and doctoral programmes in a wide variety of specific areas of study.

The university’s academic affiliations include the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), the International Association of Universities (IAU), the Council of Ontario Universities (COU), the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), the Canadian University Press (CUP), the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), Canterbury College, and Iona College. Its sporting affiliates include USports - CIS, and the Ontario University Athletics (OUA).

Facilities

The university can be found surrounded by beautiful scenery and lies close to the United States border in the city of Detroit. Spread out over 51 hectares of land, the campus also contains a serene little arboretum which contains multiple species of trees. 

 

The University of Windsor facilities are excellent in terms of student infrastructure which is aimed at fostering the ideal student environment. It has a collection of both historic and modern buildings over the campus. It also drives its efforts toward hosting events, extracurriculars, clubs and societies for its students to participate in and experience the university fervour. 

 

There is the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre on campus which functions mainly for students pursuing business, entrepreneurship and its related fields. The WEtech alliance meets the same purposes but is for students in technology and computer-related fields of study. 

 

The St. Denis Centre functions as the sports centre of the university. It is popular for basketball and track. It contains a wide range of exercise facilities and turfs for its members to indulge in different sporting activities.

Admission

University of Windsor Entry Requirements

Entry requirements check a candidate’s previous academic records and certifications and other current test scores.
