About
The University of Prince Edward Island, headquartered in Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island, has a rich history that stems from two founding institutions, Prince of Wales College (founded in 1834) and Saint Dunstan's University (est. 1855). UPEI, the province's university since 1969, honours its historic tradition through academic achievement and research innovation. With a full year of commemorating events and activities, the University honoured 50 years of exceptional leadership and performance in teaching and research in 2019.
Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students can choose from a variety of programs and degrees offered by the university. This institution, which houses Canada Research Chairs, UNESCO Chairs, endowed and funded research chairs, and 3M National Teaching Fellows, gives students access to great academics, researchers, and staff. University of Prince Edward Island Entry Requirements
Prince Edward Island University accepts applications from students on a rolling basis for the fall and winter intakes. The vast majority of applicants prefer applying for the fall semester owing to the fact of availability of programs. It is therefore recommended that students apply for their preferred course as soon as the applications are open as the university may take around 2 months to review the application and send their feedback. However, in order to successfully get admitted, there is a set of University of Prince Edward Island entry requirements that must be met, and while they may vary basis several factors, here are some of the common prerequisites -
- Applicants to undergraduate programs must present valid high school transcripts as well as complete coursework. It is also critical that the GPA be stated on the transcripts
- Applicants must know that the minimum GPA requirements may change based on the selected course
- Appearing for the SAT or ACT tests is optional
- English Language Proficiency: International applicants who do not speak English as their first language must take IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. Candidates must also complete a placement exam as soon as they arrive on campus

University of Prince Edward Island Fees
Prospective students are required to visit the UPEI website and create an account with the university. Once an account is created, students will have to fill out the application form wherein they will have to attach their documents and provide details regarding the course that they wish to pursue and meet the necessary entry criteria. Upon submitting the form and paying the application fee of around 69 CAD, selected students may receive an offer letter following which they will have to accept the letter and pay their University of Prince Edward Island fees. Overseas students will have to pay slightly higher fees than domestic students. Additionally, the tuition will also vary based on the selected program, degree level, and other factors.
