About

The University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus is a center for learning, discovery, and the dissemination of new knowledge. Ridgetown provides diploma programs in horticulture, veterinary technology, horse care, and management, environmental management, and agriculture. Ridgetown also provides one-year certificate programs in managing a veterinary clinic and handling performance horses.

 

Research on agriculture and the environment at the Ridgetown Campus began more than 80 years ago and is still a key component of the campus's goals. Farmers in Ontario and professionals throughout the world are familiar with and value the practical research projects that scientists at the site carry out.

 

The Students Government group of the University of Guelph is involved in planning events that help support both local charities and organizations and on-campus students. Students are chosen to serve as representatives and the voice of the student body each year. A chaplaincy program and many welcoming neighborhood churches are available on campus to assist students with their spiritual needs. On campus, people of all religious origins are welcome.

 

Numerous extracurricular activities are available to students, including intramural sports like badminton, hockey, basketball, softball, etc. Teams of students compete against other students from Ridgetown. There is an athletic facility in the Rudy H Brown Rural Development Center on the Ridgetown Campus. Students have the option of joining any club or committee or starting their own. Animal Behaviour Club, Social Committee, Supporting the Ridgetown Community, and Crops and Soils Club, among many others, are examples of student organizations.

 

Despite having a small population of only 3,450, Ridgetown is home to several historical landmarks. The Ridge House Museum accurately depicts a typical home and way of life in 1875. You can also travel to nearby Dresden to Uncle Tom's Cabin, the house that served as the model for Harriet Beecher Stowe's book of the same name about Josiah Henson.
