About

University Canada West (UCW) is a private university located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. David F. Strong, the former president of the University of Victoria, launched it in 2005. UCW was purchased by the Eminata Group in 2008 and sold to Global University Systems in 2014. The university, located in downtown Vancouver, provides undergraduate and graduate degrees in business and management. It was previously located on two floors of a downtown Vancouver office building on Melville Street, the institution relocated in 2014 to the adjoining London Building, which now comprises five floors. The London Building, located at 626 West Pender Street, was constructed in 1912 for the London and British North American Company.

 

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accredited the university's Bachelor and postgraduate business degrees in 2017. UCW provides a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, and an MBA as of 2019. These degrees can be obtained either full-time on campus or part-time online. It also has an Associate of Arts degree program. 

 

The British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills, and Training have certified the university, and it has the Education Quality Assurance (EQA) certification under the 2003 Degree Authorization Act. In addition, the university is a member of the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer. 

Ranking

University Canada West’s rankings for MBA placed at the fourth position among top Canadian university programmes on ApplyBoard. It also ranked at the 171st - 221st position as the Best College among National Liberal Arts Colleges. UCW  was the first university in British Columbia and the third university in Canada to receive a 5-star rating by QS Stars. It was also ranked in different aspects with 5 stars in Teaching, Employability, Academic Development, Online Learning, Social Responsibility, and Inclusiveness; and a 4-star in Internationalisation. The new Vancouver House campus is located in one of the most visible projects in Vancouver's recent history. The campus features more than 90,000 square feet of space in two podium buildings in the landmark Vancouver House development, designed by BIG architect Bjarke Ingels. Vancouver House is located in Vancouver's newest neighborhood, the Beach District, and is close to Granville Island, Sunset Beach, English Bay, and Vancouver's 28-kilometer seawall, the world's longest uninterrupted coastal path. The West Pender Campus is now housed on six stories of The London Structure, a landmark office building from the early twentieth century. It is located in the center of Vancouver's financial area, just steps away from public transportation, which includes the Waterfront SkyTrain Station, bus routes, and the SeaBus terminal. Admission
