About

The University of Calgary (U of C or UCalgary) is a Canadian public research university in Calgary, Alberta. It was first established in 1944 as the University of Alberta's Calgary branch before becoming a distinct, independent university in 1966. Over 85 research institutes and centres make up its 14 faculties. A minor south campus is situated in the city's centre, while the major campus is situated in the northwest quadrant of the area along the Bow River. Most of the research facilities are located on the main campus, which also collaborates with federal and provincial regulatory and research organisations, including the Geological Survey 

of Canada, which has offices right next to the campus. It is worth noting that the University of Calgary’s acceptance rate is 10%-20% making it super selective for students. 

 

More than 33,000 students have been admitted to the uni, of whom more than 26,000 are doing undergraduate courses and more than 6,000 are taking graduate courses. The majority of those admitted from outside are Indian, Iranian, and Chinese students. The university has nearly 300 Indian students. The Indian Students' Association represents Indian culture on campus at the University of Calgary. There are also student exchange programs between the University of Calgary and IIT Bombay. 

 

On the south campus, close to Foothills Hospital, are the Cumming School of Medicine and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Among the university's satellite institutions are the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory, situated in the city's southern foothills, the Kananaskis Biogeoscience Institute, and a campus in Doha, Qatar, which provides Middle Eastern students with nursing degrees that are internationally recognised. The Alberta Children's Hospital is located on the university's west campus.

 

The institution today serves the larger community with possibilities for lifelong learning as well as more than 200 undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs. UCalgary offers more than 110 undergraduate majors. Facilities

University of Calgary Entry Requirements
